Sleepyhead

Eyelids feeling a bit heavy after lunch? The Sevillans can check into a hotel for a four hour snooze. Why don't you do the same?

For a second season, Seville's La Siesta promotion lets you take a room - a decent one, with plenty of four and five star hotels taking part - for the afternoon for as little as EUR 20. But with an open mind, a quality place to nap needn't cost much more here in Barcelona, either.

Of course, now we're talking love hotels, but it no longer has to be about coin-operated Jacuzzis and sticky sheets, with the latest batch like Punt Catorze and La Paloma (yes, your fave ballroom is now a love den) carrying the signatures of Denys & von Arend (also responsible for Axel and Ciutat de Barcelona) and Lázaro Rosa-Violán (from Pulitzer and Banys Orientals). Check in and stay as long as you'd like (you can't leave and come back though) from EUR 45.

With the guaranteed discretion (you're ushered to your room to avoid any unpleasant encounters - who'd want to run into the missus?), catching up on a little shut-eye can be your own little secret.

La Siesta en Sevilla promotion - until end of August
La Paloma Raval, Punt Catorze Gavà, Regàs Sant Gervasi, La França Poble Sec - from EUR 45

  • A Stretch

I wouldn't say that I'm lazy, but physical activity has just never held much appeal. So I figure that if I were ever to take up a sport, it'd be yoga - the only discipline where lying down and breathing can pass itself off as exercise.

  • Buying Time

I'm hopeful about this new concierge service that's fully bookable via email or phone. In addition to standard tasks like personal shopping or getting reservations, they'll also get the dog walked and fed (at least the four-legged ones) or redecorate your home.

  • Shopping for Love

Not as literally as in New York, where supermarkets are prime hunting grounds. Feel the melons for ripeness, check out the meat specials, and bring home a date.

  • In Vino Veritas

As I get older (27 again next month), I'm starting to think that maybe I should know my Pinots from my Cabernets. Like with men, there's a point in your life when you start looking for quality over quantity - even in your tipple.
