Even Educated Fleas Do It

Lily Allen does it. Even Lindsay Lohan does it. And closer to home, we've seen Silvia Prada, Penélope Cruz and even Nacho Vidal do it. No, stop wiping your nose now - we're talking about taking a spin on the decks.
And there's apparently no stopping it. What started as good fun, these days has anybody with half a name terrorizing dance floors the world over. Even for musicians, performing at a party now means unleashing an "ironic" nostalgia kitsch playlist from their iPod.
But if simply putting on vintage Kylie followed by Lady GaGa a DJ makes, then you're probably right when you think "I can do that, too". Just, please, before you set out to become the next Sam Ronson or Bob Sinclar, take some proper classes, like those offered this weekend at NIU.
Here, DJ Nikka will teach you how to set up decks, count beats, and other DJing basics. For a real party trick, though, enroll in the beatboxing course next month. Anybody can put two tracks side-by-side. Now reenact them.
