Spring Cleaning

It may be early, but with all the sunburnt guiris parading Barceloneta, it certainly feels like spring. So just as everyone's attention is turning to summer, that's when 080 revs up its Fall/Winter 08/09 fashion week. Anybody still wondering why it struggles to make an impact?

Perhaps it's set purposely late to give our ailing local designers a chance to 'take inspiration from' trends that are successful elsewhere, but rather than variations on "recession chic" (seemingly always heavy on the first, light on the latter part), my mind is more set on spring cleaning.

And spring cleaning is just what's taken place at Notariat 8, home to designer collective Comité for the past seven years. Always a bit of a hodgepodge of talent, the place has gotten rid of some of its deadweight and is being re-launched as Still Light tomorrow.

Founder and local catwalk veteran Cecilia Sörensen is now joined by Txell Miras, and the new shop-cum-gallery also stocks merchandise from our fave London boutique Beyond The Valley, the Danish Wood Wood, and the Parisian collective, Surface To Air.

With a result like this, then it might be time to bring out the dusters at 080, too.
