Summer Time

With tonight's launch of Pulitzer's Visit Up cocktail sessions, and the opening parties for CDLC's terrace tomorrow, La Terrrazza on Friday, and Sotavento Beach Club's terrace and La Sal on Saturday, the start of the summer season is as official as it gets.
That also means that it's now time to make some tough decisions: Socks and sandals? Short-shorts or just too short? Legs-or-cleavage (or hussy)? And for me, as red puts me to sleep and beer makes you, eww, fat, deciding which white to call my summer tipple this year.
Now, being a sucker for pretty labels, I was momentarily tempted to go with last year's choice of Paco & Lola or even blasphemously dilluting Amaya Arzuaga's new red into a tinto de verano, but then I discovered JO! - enticed by the great bottle design and Dani Riera's campaign shots - that's marketed by the winemaker's son and local bon vivant, Miquel Vacquer.
The cosecha isn't just pretty but also Catalunya's first verdeJO(!) wine, more typical of Rueda. More importantly, it's tasty and refreshing - and it's one decision down. As for the rest? Socks and sandals, whatever; no such thing as too short; and hussies, you know, always have more fun.
