Behind The Scenes

The modern world is full of profound mysteries, and none more so than in fashion. Does Kate Moss speak? Will Lagerfeld ever leave Chanel? And who will be America’s Next Top Model?

There’s something lovable about a good enigma. Sure the annals tell us Coco Chanel dabbled in a few not-so-salubrious affairs with Nazi sympathizers, and yes, we’ve heard Vogue editor Anna Wintour may be a cloven-hoofed demon. But the gory details were left to our willing imaginations. Until now.

Now that Audrey 'Amelie' Tautou plays Coco, and Anna’s much hyped documentary ‘The September Issue’ is to air, I fear the game may be up. We’ve already seen Kate Moss b*llocking Sir Phil for a wardrobe mishap on last Sunday’s ‘Topshop NYC in 24 hours’. A career’s worth of mystery screwed in five minutes.

When the legendary Marlene Dietrich finally lowered her defenses for Max Schill’s seminal documentary, not only did she refuse to appear on camera but she plain lied throughout the interview. A mystery to the very end. And we love it.

Marlene is reissued this week on DVD
Coco Avant Chanel is on general release now.
The September Issue is due out, oddly enough, in September, in cinemas on September 25.
