The most effective form of resistance against the high street retail chains is the creation of multi-product projects in unique spaces. Or so was the thinking of Finnish fashion designer Cecilia Sörensen and illustrator Roope Aho when they founded Comité: a place where things are, necessarily, different.

They’ve since been joined by French Julia Pelletier and several other designers to offer a wide range of unique mens and womenswear, as well as accessories and art. The seven designers take turns working the till, so there’s always a knowledgeable person around. And although some on the more recent arrivals might not be of the same aptitude as the original founders, it is still worth a wander down this side street in the Ravel to feel and appreciate the buzz.

Priced to make Zara and H&M look exorbitantly expensive and faster, and even less scrupulous, than Inditex at copying fashion designs, it's been a runaway (and throwaway) success everywhere it's opened.

With the opening of Alex Estilles and Xavi Lanau's brainchild, those delectable fashion samples will now be put on sale to the public. And naturally, being set up by PRs, everything in the shop is for sale.
