Going on location alone, this may not be an obvious choice – flanked as it is by industrial estates, a shopping mall, and the Encantes flea markets, it’s really an area best viewed in passing.

So we recommend concentrating instead on the rock bottom rates, overdesigned, candy-coloured interiors, and best of all, the fabulous rooftop pool with the best view in town of Jean Nouvel’s phallic Agbar Tower.
