Market Hotel owes its name to San Antonio Market, the first ever to be built outside the city walls. However, it resembles far more the Colonial dance halls of Bengal, Ceylon or Malaysia, the atmosphere recreated by wooden floors, dark polished furnishings, clean white walls and obliging waiters. Granted, it may not be completely authentic – don’t scratch too deep – but the cheap rates are real enough.
