| Waiting
for Veló |

Patience
may not be a virtue, but it’s definitely
a necessity if you decide to, say, read
War & Peace from start to
finish or deal with Telefónica.
Or wait for some Barcelona restaurants
to open. |
 |
Because
since the originally announced opening
date, a then single friend of mine has
managed to get married, conceive her first
and teach the kid to walk - and this place
is only opening to the public next month.
My friend’s known for being desperate
determined and a fast mover but, still,
two and half years have passed.
The place is Velódromo, which
has been restored to its original glory
by Moritz and now opens with super chef
Carles Abellán overseeing the kitchen
with classic Catalan bistro dishes. The
original art deco feel has been revived,
maintaining many of the original design
elements, like the formica-plated steel
bar, the mahogany staircase and, crucially
to many, the pool table.
