Smartypants

Ah, it's spring in England. All over London, people are spilling out into the streets, enjoying pints in the evening sunshine. Coats are being left in the closet, bare legs are getting an airing, and everyone is getting a little frisky.

With the change in weather, it's easy to forget your people. Not your work colleagues and friends, clearly. But your online people, those friends on MySpace, ASW, Facebook, Bebo and Friendster. Is anyone else getting bored of seeing the same photos and same comments? Once you've searched out all your ex's - these communities can get pretty boring.

Welcome Goodreads.com, an online community for us smartypants booklovers. For those of us booksnobs who wrinkle our noses at those who read John Grisham on the tube - but secretly devour Miriam Keynes in the safety of our bedroom - this is the perfect book club.

No shitty personal chat and stale biscuits in some spinster's basement flat, just list of all the books you've read and plan to read, including that all important category: attempted-more-than-once. I'm, personally, slightly comforted that Ulysses features so heavily on this list, since I own six copies, pretend to have read it, and just avoid discussing the plot when someone brings it up.
