1980s revivals, don'tcha just love 'em?

Rave, fluo, Katharine Hamnett T-shirts, gazumping and the fabulous Pete Burns are all back. Although in Pete's case, there have been a few cosmetic ahem, enhancements over the years.

The surgery on legendary 1980s gay club, The Copa, has been even more radical. The Earl's Court disco, where Freddie Mercury famously got down to Frankie's Relax, is reopening as Coco Latté. And it aims to be bigger than Bananarama's backcombed barnets.

The designers behind Mo*vida and Chinawhite have fashioned a permanent site for the peripatetic gay club night in increasingly posh SW5. Aimed at trendyspendybendys and their camp followers - Madge and Robbie are fans - CL's owners promise OTT opulence and serious swish.

OTT, I say. Think cocktail waiters in rhinestone-encrusted Julien Macdonald uniforms, obligatory VIP suite, Louis XV beds, lashings of leather and Phillipe Starck furniture in a jardin climatisé.

80s excess: we love it.
