The Box in a Box
Barcelona table by Robert Langford

For centuries a domestic war has raged between men and women about how their homes should be decorated.

Floral prints and velvet for her. Leather and steel for him. Feminine frivolity vs. masculine minimalism. Bejewelled tiebacks vs. Lazyboy armchairs.

When it comes to the TV, it's usually the men who insist on wearing the trousers with their best mate taking pride of place in the home: frontline and centre. Local furniture design store Robert Langford has provided the ideal solution.

We've all heard of a bed in a box and even found ourselves mesmerised by clever storage solutions within what appear to be conventional pieces of furniture, but Robert Langford has taken this a step further with their "TV-in-an-ottoman". This mechanised TV ottoman not only satisfies our need for style but most importantly, considering how small our homes are becoming, for functionality. The ultimate relationship deal breaker is being launched at this year's Decorex exhibition.

This begs the question whether the domestic battle between the sexes has finally found a compromise for having a TV in the bedroom? You can almost hear a global sigh as couples role over to their side of the bed or should that be a global dash as couples both reach over to grab the remote.
