Vintage Kid Wonders
Kitty

Thanks to fantastic club nights such as Gaz's Rockin' Blues, we seem to be in the midst of mini rock'n'roll revival. The swinging music and infectious energy of the sound feels just right. 'A to Z Kitty, Daisy & Lewis: The Roots Of Rock 'n' Roll' has been out for a couple of weeks, but it's all the excuse you need. This compilation's charm grows more powerful with every listen.

Teenage rock 'n' rollers Kitty, Daisy & Lewis grew up on a vintage collection of swinging jazz, jump blues, r'n'b and, of course, rock 'n' roll. They've been asked by purveyors of alternative sounds Sunday Best to piece together a selection of their favourite songs that helped shape the rock 'n' roll sound. Hence we are blessed with thirteen cuts of romping stomping boogie woogie, country & western, blues and rockabilly where you can hear the seeds of the pop industry to come.

What's really incredible about this compilation is that it is lovingly collated by three teenagers. Whereas most kids that age would opt for EMO, or the lesser evil nu-rave, these three canny souls display real depth of knowledge but more importantly utter passion for fantastic music from forty or fifty years before they were even a swing in their dad's pants.

'A to Z Kitty, Daisy & Lewis: The Roots Of Rock 'n' Roll' is out now on Sunday Best and available at Amazon.co.uk.
