Weekend Guide

---

Behold, a UJ street-skate-style-special with a Fabric party tonight, street food (pizzas AND burgers) on Friday, vogueing along to house ballroom on Saturday, two new skate shops and a decidedly urban exhibition on Sunday. That failing, perhaps a last minute Miami break or a Vogue Festival will appeal. Or the fact that Marni for H&M launches today and The Souls of Mischief head the Jazz Café on Sunday. Lastly, if you’ve time to spare, check out the street style graphics in De La Soul’s new one and in Chiddy Bang’s video (at 1:54). Skate on!

EAT:
Pizza Pilgrims
  EVENT:
Patty & Bun

If you’re bored of your usual Pret sandwich, nip along to Berwick Street Market where the Elliot brothers will be serving up freshly cooked Neapolitan style pizzas from the back of their little green van. As it’s round the corner from UJHQ, we’ll be the first in line - especially as they’re creating our very own UJ spicy Friday pizza (quote UJ for special price). See you there!   The boys from Street Kitchen have joined forces with the Doodle Bar to host a series of special burger nights with Patty & Bun’s Joe. Expect fun combos (home smoked salmon on brioche with horseradish dressing) and classics (Jose Jose chilli burger, sweet potato fries), with beer and cocktails. Burger fever ain’t going nowhere.

SHOP CENTRAL:
Vans X Slam City Skates
  ART:
Gilbert & George
London Pictures

More skate brands? Oh, go on then. UJ fave Vans are setting up shop in the basement of Slam City Skates. Get your hands on their current line and see ex-skateboarding filmmaker Greg Hunt’s ‘Selective Memory’ photography exhibition which looks at 16 years in the biz. Just call it a skating monopoly.   Gilbert and George, the controversial duo who have done more than their fair share for shock tactic art, are back with their new instalment London Pictures at the White Cube (in Hoxton Square, Mason’s Yard, Bermondsey and Hong Kong). After stealing newspaper posters for 10 years, they’ve created an exhibition of urban London through headlines: tube strikes, gang culture, robbery and the state of schools (bit heavy for a Sunday, we know).
