EROTICA GETS HIP

More is more

Full frontal, a tasteful showing of breast, a well-positioned prop: whatever the style, it seems that bare-all just got fashionable. Forget exposure of the Playboy/Page 3 ilk - we’re talking about a more chic state of undress.

LOVE’s issue three set the ball rolling with eight supermodels (including Kate, Lara, Daria and Naomi) baring all in a light bondage-style shoot, while French fashion mag Purple have been featuring a nude of the week for years (naturally).

Next on the slow-burn nude trend came Brooklyn-based erotic quarterly Jacques, who reworked 60s throwbacks with their ‘good get naughty and the naughty get naked’ ethos. While last year also saw the launch of Treats!, a finely-crafted publication with an emphasis on, well, treats for the eyes, with a dose of high-octane fashion.

Now, nude has gone (tastefully) viral. Earlier this month, Toronto-based filmmaker Claire Edmondson set up a “special” birthday video for Marc Jacobs and Hugh Hefner which showed new-school, sugary sweet Playboy bunnies (in MJ bunny ears, obviously). Even the ad agencies have got in on the act with Stussy’s Strip for Likes Facebook campaign. Add that to Pirelli’s new calendar (shot by Mario Sorrenti) and the new Bob Carlos Clarke erotic exhibition at the Imperial Arms, and nude never looked so chic.
