Weekend Guide

---

We've got every type of party going on this weekend: in the morning, in the evening, at a market, on a rooftop, in NY… and if you're heading to the white isle, make sure you check out the new Ibiza 123 Festival for a rock/electronica mash up. If NY is more your scene, get into the Yankee spirit with our 4th of July pick, then head to the Hamptons for sushi and Shark Attack sounds. Plus a few old favourites thrown into the mix (Frank's, StockMKT, Love Brunch). Oh and llamas, we love the llamas.

This Weekend’s Picks

FRIDAY

THEATRE:
THE BOY WITH TAPE ON HIS FACE
  EAT:
The StockMKT

The cow themed festival is back on the Southbank. Our pick is slapstick virtuoso Sam Wills (aka The Boy With Tape On His Face). A comedy act with a difference, expect sound effects, pop music, audience participation (eek!)... anything except your usual stand-up spiel. Wordless fun.   StockMKT is back in Bermondsey. If you haven't already done the restaurant crawl along Bermondsey Street or wandered the market, now's the time to venture out of zone 1. Get your street food fill (Mother Flipper, Pizza Pilgrims), browse the stalls, listen to live jazz, then party to the sounds of Culture Cuts Collective.

MIXTAPE

Almost this time next week (July 8 to be exact), UJ will be running the Nike 10K . If you're joining us, and need a last push, try Jeffrey's anthem mix. Turn it up and play it loud. See you on the track.

Noshable at Ben's Canteen

If you're celebrating Independence Day next week (or just love a bit of soul food), head to Ben's Canteen for a rowdy night of American diner dishes (pulled pork corn dogs, French dip sandwiches, tater tots), party cocktails (NY sours, hard lemonade) and cheeseburger jerky. Picklebacks and pulled pork here we come.

Independence Day Pop Up, Ben's Canteen,

SATURDAY

PARTY:
Love Brunch
  DRINK:
Frank's Cafe

Love Brunch goes east this week for a daytime extravaganza at  BBB Shoreditch. Expect the usual drinking, dancing and surprise entertainment, just on the other side of the track. Resident DJs Hugo Heathcote, Disco Stu and Josh Silver will be providing the tunes – and remember to book a table if you want to brunch before you dance.   It's back. We never tire of Frank's rooftop antics (and you know the score by now) so this is just a heads up for those who like to drink and dine on carpark rooftops – it's open! While you're there, peruse Sculpture Project 6 by annual collaborators Bold Tendencies. For the love of Campari let's hope it doesn't rain.

SUNDAY

FESTIVAL:
Paradise Garden Festival
  PARTY:
Casablanca Opening Party

There's a lot of love going into forgotten stretches of wasteland right now (Shrimpy's, Studio East… the Olympic Stadium), but London Pleasure Gardens is taking the concept to the max, transforming Pontoon Dock into an entertainment wonderland. There'll be concert spaces, a pop up hotel, restaurant, sculpture garden… oh and a 24hr floating cocktail bar. Check out the grand opening at the Paradise Garden Festival this weekend, then head back next week for Bloc festival.   Keeping our summer spirits alive, Casablanca are back with their Sunday sessions of electronic–infused disco. Taking up residence at the Loft Studios, Anja Schneider, And.Id and Simon Baker will be taking disco to a new level at the opening party. With a pop up cocktail bar, Sorbitium providing the ice cream (damson sherbet, watermelon granita) and black and white films projected onto walls, say goodbye to lazy Sundays. Get in the mood here.
