Weekend Guide

---

We know, we know, why would anyone venture into the rain when you can have a duvet day watching the Olympics. But if you're going a little stir crazy, we've got some non-Olympics-related activities: Korean healthy fast food, Elliot's burger bar, a new London exhibition and even a city beach. If we really can't get you to budge, then at least go for a quick run in some new knit kicks.

This Weekend’s Picks

• FRI Another London at Tate Britain • SAT Downstairs at Blacks
• SUN Camden Beach

CUSTOMISE

Tatty Devine

We like a bit of customisation. Nike trainers, luxe fashion, cocktails, tech… So we're a little bit in love with Tatty Devine's name necklaces. Not only are they completely customisable, they now have a new lasercutter at their Covent Garden store. Jewellery making while you wait.

OFWGKTA Pop Up at Colette

We love Frank Ocean at UJ HQ (Channel Orange is on repeat). So we were excited to hear that the Odd Future clothing line will be popping up at Colette for five days this summer. Yes please. Tyler will also be exhibiting works at the Nuke Gallery in Paris from August 23.

FRIDAY

EAT:
Bibigo Bar and Dining
  ART:
Another London at Tate Britain

The latest restaurant to open near UJ HQ, Bibigo offers a healthy take on Korean classics. It's a sultry spot for lunch – think dark wood, dimmed lighting and sparse furnishings. Try the beef tartar bibimbap and go spicy with the sauce (it's the only way). It's 20% off this week so get in quick.   Head to Tate Britain this evening while the world's focus is on LDN. Another London showcases photographs from a wealth of different international photographers who came here to work between 1930 and 1980, such as Irving Penn and Bill Brandt. See patriotic citizens, leather-clad punks and 70s cool kids.

INTERNATIONAL

Gramercy Park Hotel's New Rooftop

Manhattan's fave rooftop just got a makeover. The 18th floor of the iconic Gramercy Park Hotel has been transformed into a summery haven, with glass lanterns, trellises, Hirst artwork (and a retractable glass roof, if needs be). We say sit back with a lunchtime lobster roll and a Bloody Mary.

EAT:

  PARTY:
Boiler Room Fives

Cosy members' club Blacks has gathered together a few of London's finest for some intimate dinners in their Soho townhouse. First up, Ravinder Bhogal (Cook in Boots) will be serving up her signature exotic fare (think prawn Scotch eggs and coconut, lime and mango trifle). Look out for #PunkChef Carl Clarke later in the month (one half of rooftop sellout God Save The Clam).   Boiler Room Fives is back for its annual shake down. Cheer on the 5-a-side football games between the likes of i-D, Vice, Dazed and Confused and BNTL. BYOB, pitch up a deck chair, enjoy some hearty BBQ food from The Sit Down Affair's Josephine, and chill to Boiler Room DJs. Saturday sorted.

EAT:
Elliot's x RAW
  BEACH:
Camden Beach

If you keep missing out on the infamous Elliot's burger (they're only served at lunch), your luck has changed. During the Olympics, the Borough Market café has teamed up with RAW to create a pop up natural wine and burger bar. For £15 you can order a plump patty of aged beef with beer-braised onions, aged Comté and linseed brioche (drooling yet?), with chips and a glass of natural wine. Eat in or take away, either way we're there.   Why go to the beach when the beach has come to Camden? 150 tonnes of sand has gone into Roundhouse's terrace to create a bonafide shoreline, complete with ice cream van, tiki hut and grill, ping pong and a margarita shack. They'll also be screening the Games live. Grab the margs, cheer on Team GB and pretend it's over 18 degrees.
