The Culturist

London’s cultural highlights this OCTOBER

We've put together a host of indoor activities this month to distract you from the looming winter chill. Book in for a gourmet dinner, check out the big gun galleries, then shop for an outfit for Deviation's 5th bday party. Can't bear the thought of leaving the house? Stay in with the latest coffee table tome and live vicariously through Pharrell and Jay-Z.

EAT:
Kitchen Table
. . .
Bubbledogs has been harbouring a secret. Walk past diners downing champagne and gourmet hotdogs and you'll find an intimate chef's table tucked away behind the upmarket junk food fest (and this one you can book). Sit at a stainless steel bar with just 18 fellow diners for a tasting menu of contemporary European cooking from ex-Ledbury chef James Knappett. Check out the blackboard for Knappett's musings and an insight into his creative process. Who said cooking wasn't art?
. . .
Opens today, tasting menu £68
70 Charlotte Street, W1T 4QG

PHOTOGRAPHY:
William Klein + Daido Moriyama
. . .
The street life of 60s Tokyo and New York – two very different scenes brought together by Tate Modern's latest exhibition. The photographs of William Klein (behind seminal publication "Life is Good & Good for You in New York" and "Tokyo") will be juxtaposed next to the work of Moriyama – one of the most celebrated photographers from Japan's Provoke movement – which includes radical depictions of post-war Tokyo. Expect blurry, grainy shots which convey everything from street life and gay pride marches to the effects of globalisation and political protest. There will also be fashion photography from Klein's work with Vogue, as well as a Polaroid installation by Moriyama.

October 10 – January 20, £12.70

FASHION:
Chanel's Little Black Jacket
. . .
What originally began as a men's jacket has transcended boundaries and trends, becoming a symbol of feminine elegance: Chanel's LBJ. In conjunction with the release of their book "The Little Black Jacket: Chanel's classic revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld", fashion's most inimitable duo have curated a photography exhibition around the piece, coming to the Saatchi Gallery after stints in Tokyo, New York and Hong Kong. 113 friends of the fashion house – including Sarah Jessica Parker, Stella Tenant and Georgia May Jagger – have all been snapped with the iconic jacket.
