ELECTION NIGHT FEVER

Where to go for tonight's US showdown

Obamarama vs Romneymania is finally upon us. If you've been wearing the t-shirts, following the polls and watching the campaign trail, you're going to want to go all out for tonight's big results, or at least use it as an excuse to stay up late and catch another Romney clanger.

Stay home: Gather the troops and watch en casa. No planning is needed (you can get going late; results won't start coming out until 11pm), just get appropriately themed takeout from MEATmarket – dead hippies, poppaz and hard milkshakes – and order in a batch of "Not Quite a Tea Party" from Gelupo, an election-themed ripple marbled with raspberry and blackberry sorbet. Or, you could DIY with the help of How To Deep Fry a Turkey. Yes, it's a thing.

Head out:
Watch 'n' bowl at All Star Lanes, go for all-American surf 'n' turf at Big Easy, or pull up a pew at Christopher's Martini Bar 'til close. New NY-style bar and restaurant Honky Tonk is also gearing up with Obama Slammers, The Rib Room has special cocktails "The Windy City" and "The Motown Milk Punch," and Lucky 7 will be serving the Obama Burger, a green chilli cheeseburger with mustard (his favourite, allegedly).

Stay out:
Get cosy for a long night at Redhook, where they're throwing an all night election face-off. Democrats will be greeted with New York Sours; Republicans with Chardonnay, before an all-you-can-eat rib fest (from Ribstock), complete with corn on the cob, fries, pineapple slaw and pecan pie to finish. Plus: popcorn shrimp, hotdogs after midnight, bottomless beer, bottomless coffee and vodka espresso cocktails to keep you going. And there's breakfast to go for those still standing. Let the games begin.

We're giving away a pair of tickets to the Redhook Election Party tonight. Simply email us at competition@urbanjunkies.com by 3pm today when we'll announce the winner.
