THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARYLEBONE

Something's brewing in Marylebone. Once a quiet haven from the hustle of central London, the area has seen a slew of heavyweight openings of late. Move over Soho, there's a new hood full of nightlife, dining and shopping in West London.

Hotelier André Balazs brought a Meatpacking District vibe to Marylebone last week with the launch of Chiltern Firehouse. The buzzed about hotel joins Balazs' roster of boutique boltholes (Chateau Marmont, the Standard, the Mercer), and is fast becoming the hangout of choice. Located in a former fire station, the hotel boasts 26 rooms and a modern American restaurant manned by ex-Viajante, Michelin starred chef Nuno Mendes. (We hear that Viajante's in good hands though, with Jason Atherton's protégée Lee Westcott set to take the reins in the Town Hall space).

And that's not all on the food front. Following the runaway success of Gymkhana, Karam Sethi relaunched Trishna this month. The Michelin starred restaurant retains its focus on the coastal cuisine of South West India, with some innovative additions like lobster samosas and John Dory tandoori. There's also an updated wine list thanks to star sommelier Sunaina Sethi (we're intrigued by the Indian white sangiovese). Around the corner, CANVAS by Michael Riemenschneider is shaking up fine dining with guests creating their own tasting menus, while Philippe Conticini's newly opened La Pâtisserie des Rêves has had French pastry fans lining up on Marylebone High Street for viennoiserie and gateaux. For cocktail fans, speakeasy fave Purl is making Monday nights fun with live jazz and a new menu of Q-vodka based concoctions, too.

Now for some retail action. Design emporium The Conran Shop has just opened a wellbeing pop up shop. The Conran Clinic offers wares like cold pressed juices from The Good Life Eatery, cutting edge gym equipment and – our favourite part – "Break In Case Of Emergency" cabinets full of chocolate. Down the road, eyewear-turned-resortwear label Prism is set to open its first store, showcasing Anna Laub's vintage-style sunglasses, vibrant swimwear and pony skin espadrilles.

See you in W1.

Warner Music Brits After Party with Belvedere and Vanity Fair

#UJOutandAbout

Last Wednesday evening it was all about the Warner Music Brits after party at the Savoy. With Nile Rodgers and Chic performing against a discotastic backdrop (with a cameo by Kylie no less), Severino and three-time Grammy winner Stuart Price on the decks, and personalised (glowing) Belvedere Silver Sabre bottles lining the tables, it was a night to remember. Highlights included the up close and personal performance with Nile, the XXL gold bear in the Box's 'Toy Box', and Belvedere cocktails all round.
