You know by now that W Hotels passionately support music; from the hotel room DJ sets with Boiler Room and DJ Labs to their Global DJ Searches, to name a few. Now in their 5th year of partnering with the International Music Summit (IMS), W Hotels' relationship with supporting DJs is as strong as ever. Last week, UJ was there to take it all in with them during a whirlwind week at IMS Ibiza, and then over to Barcelona for their Wet Deck launch. First up it was the #INSIDERCOLLECTIVE dinner with W and friends. Following on from the recent intimate soiree at Paul Oakenfold's house in LA, for their third #INSIDERCOLLECTIVE event W Hotels took to the sea. W DJ Lab DJ Parvenu was on the decks, champagne flowed, and the scenic backdrop of Dalt Vila set the stage for thought provoking conversation. Up close and personal, this dinner has become a real golden ticket, and a great place to spark future business collaborations. |

Thursday night also saw DJ Lab alumnae T.A.T, alongside Pete Tong and Pretty Lights, play in front of a crowd of thousands at Dalt Vila that included many a music industry heavyweight. Oh what a night! Check out her performance here and listen to her new track Fix Me. |

Another year, another action-packed three days and nights at IMS. Here it's all about balance: eat, sleep(ish), rave, repeat. UJ loved the mixture of old and new - from a keynote interview with Seymour Stein (responsible for signing Madge) to a panel discussion with the Young Guns, a network for young, innovative music professionals. Seth Troxler was another highlight - his comment about how cake throwing isn't culture really resonated with the UJ way of thinking (sorry, Steve Aoki). UJ has also made a mental note to attend Movement in Detroit next year after Seth's ardent validation: 'I think it's the best curated underground festival'. The interview with the eloquent Blaise from Boiler Room was another great hour - UJ wishes we'd stuck a camera on our bedroom wall with gaffer tape and started filming DJs. Seems like their future, working with over 1000 new artists a year is very, very bright. Other conference takeaways were the split of nightlife in Ibiza - increasingly there are two camps: more Vegas-style bookings (eek. no!), and the more underground interesting ones, like El Row, everything at DC10 and Ants. We know which side of the fence we are sitting on… as IMS partner Ben Turner said, #ibizaslaysvegasanyday. |

The Legends dinner at the Hard Rock Hotel celebrating Nile Rodgers got things started right, and a live jam session with Simon Le Bon, George Clinton and Nile was a memorable IMS moment. Over at Dalt Vila, the Frankie Knuckles tribute was special - with Frankie projected on the walls of Dalt Vila no less - and the buzz name of the conference was definitely live act Rage on Gold - expect to hear a lot more from them. A fun set by rising star Dan from Eats Everything rocked the UNESCO walls (#UJloves Dan, such a gent), and a b2b set with Seth and Jamie completed the finale in style. Then it was on to openings at Pacha, Sankeys, Ushuaïa and Space (where UJ bagged a spot in the DJ Booth with The Chemical Brothers… thanks, Eva!) - followed by DC10 and Ibiza Rocks House @ Pikes at Pacha. IMS has become our favourite music industry event, with both LA and Ibiza continuing to be more and more impressive. We wouldn't miss it for the world, and are a very proud media partner. To celebrate the wrap up of IMS, team UJ headed to W Hotels' annual IMS sundowner party at the newly opened Lips Reartes. This year it was all about their recently released DJ LAB EP, a collaboration with the burn DJ Lab Artists. A mixture of music industry folk – UJ recognised familiar faces from Virgin, Vice, and Mixmag – as well as old friends mingled to the beats of T.A.T, Parvenu, Wendy Bailey, Sezer Uysal, Vonda7 and Adam Share, while sipping on passion fruit martinis with bites of Iberian sliders, croquettes and mini pizzas. The highlights? Partying to the sounds of low flying planes (reminiscent of the Space of yesteryear, waheeeeeeeey!), great tunes, and of course watching people pose next to the infamous big white W sign before heading up to Dalt Vila. |

Lastly, it was over to Barcelona's Wet Deck opening party. Hosted by IMS Ibiza, the city's favourite rooftop summer series opened with beats by DJs Mika, Ben Pearce and Yuksek, and was the perfect teaser for things to come. Next in the Wet Deck pipeline?
