Keep Your Bags Packed

We know, we know, the holidays may have just ended but thanks to a handful of hotel launches (and January blues) our wanderlust is (still) in full swing. From city breaks and summer jaunts to rediscovering old favourites, our bags are staying packed.

City Break:

Soho House Istanbul

87 bedrooms, a Cecconi’s, two rooftop pools, a night club… Welcome Soho House Istanbul, the biggest of the houses yet. Occupying the old American consulate in the fashionable Beyoğlu district, Soho House Istanbul is the perfect base to take in the buzzing streets of Istanbul – if you can leave the House. We did say two rooftop pools.

Soho House Istanbul, opens early 2015. For general enquiries including memberships and room rates click here

SPRING Escape:

Miami

Lately, we’ve got Miami on the mind. Aside from the art deco architecture, candyfloss hues and Cuban sandwiches, we’re hooked on its haute-Latino/Catalan food haunts (Cantina La Veinte, La Mar by Gastón Acurio and NIU Kitchen, to name just a few) and bourgeoning hotel scene. From the sleek Art Deco Metropolitan by Como and the fashionable Miami Beach EDITION to the sprawling Martin Brudnizki-designed Thompson Miami Beach, we can’t help but say, “Welcome to Miami”.

Thompson Miami Beach, 4041 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida 33140. Rooms from $300

Weekend away:

The Hoxton, Amsterdam

The Hoxton, Amsterdam, we believe, is a sure sign of the city getting a break from its ‘café’ and stag do scene. The Hoxton, joining other chicsters like Canal House and &samhoud places means that the Dutch capital is surely on the rise. Add to this the news of Eurostar’s direct train service from London to Amsterdam in 2016 and we’re on board to re-discover the Dam.

The Hoxton, Amsterdam., Herengracht 255, 1016 BJ Amsterdam
Opens July 2015. Rooms from £69

On Our Radar:

New York EDITION

Following in the footsteps of its heavy-hitting Miami launch, the EDITION is set to open New York side in April. All we know for now is its Madison Square Park location, but after London and Miami, we’re expecting good things.

New York EDITION, 5 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10010

TURN IT UP FOR CHANGE

Here at UJ, we believe in marriage equality, obviously. Which is why we’re supporting W Hotels Worldwide’s Turn It Up For Change campaign: monthly parties taking place in all of their hotels in the US to raise awareness, funds and make some noise for marriage equality across all 50 American states. LOVE HAS NO LIMIT! For a taster of these soirées, check out the video we co-produced for their recent NY launch, follow us on Instagram, and check out #TurnItUpForChange for a behind-the-scenes look at their party in Chicago this week. Help us get this cause TURNT UP!
