FRIDAY

SEE:
Breaking Bad character portraits by Ralph Steadman
  DINNER:
BÓ Drake

Ralph Steadman, best known for his illustrations in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, has turned his attention to another subject, Walter White. Having illustrated the new Breaking Bad DVD covers, 71A gallery will be putting them on show alongside a series of original artworks, inspired by the cult TV show, by up-and-comers (chosen by Steadman himself). Breaking Bad meets Fear and Loathing, well, sort of.   The time has finally come: Bó Drake has opened its BBQ doors. The interesting menu fuses east Asian flavours with some Mejico and Californian touches – thanks to head chef Heath McDonald, who cut his teeth during the LA food truck movement. Expect dishes such as rib tips in bourbon sauce, kimchi quesadillas with roasted poblano cream and bo ssam with smoked pulled pork, kimchi and ssamjang. Refreshment wise? It’s all about the soju and mezcal slushie.

EAT:
BlackLock
  PARTY:
Cassius at Ministry of Sound

Soho newcomer Blacklock is shining the spotlight on the humble chop. Cooked over charcoal and seared with Blacklock irons, order a five-pound cocktail and dig into a stack of hot ‘n’ juicy beef, lamb or pork chops. Although the meat may be the star, make sure to have a pick from the sides – standouts include kale with parmesan, barbequed baby gems and the ten-hour ash-roasted potatoes. Oh, and did we mention the ‘bottle for the table’ cocktails? Bring it on!   If you haven't yet got tickets for tonight at Ministry, do so now. This one's going to be big: Cassius is headlining with their brand of classic house and big hit tracks, supported by fellow Parisian Clara 3000. Otherwise, for a blast of ‘cosmic spacious disco’, head to the party in room 103, where French tech house DJ The Mekanism will be on decks until sunrise.

  SEE:
Magnificent Obsessions: The Artists as Collector

Quash your Sunday hangover with one of the best bacon butties in town, courtesy of Bruno Loubet, James Packman and their pig pimpin’ food truck, Le Swine. Parked at Brentford market (and Broadway market on Saturdays), get there early-ish for a taste of the homemade milk and onion bap, filled with a fried egg, bacon butter and homemade tomato or mushroom ketchup. Be sure to order a side of slow cooked, pulled pork beans.   Hoarding: we’re all a bit guilty of it, and we’re in good company if the Barbican’s latest exhibition is anything to go by. The exhibition displays the personal ‘hoarding’ collections of post-war and contemporary artists: from Warhol’s collection of cookie jars, Sir Peter Blake's masks and elephant figurines to Damien Hirst’s apt pile of skulls and taxidermy. Clutter just got arty.
