It’s the weekend, take a bao… from two new spots, one in Soho, the other in Shoreditch. For those who want to branch out from the Taiwanese milk bun, Foxlow has just opened in Stokey—we recommend a brunch visit. Party wise, RBMA is bringing a bit of Brooklyn love to Dalston, and, in other news, Ryan Gosling has made his directorial debut. Enjoy.

RBMA PRESENTS BROOKLYN LOVE ALL NIGHTER

Bao, with its legendary Taiwanese xiao chi (small eats) and milk buns (baos), has set up shop in Soho, dangerously close to UJHQ. The menu, starring their signature namesake baos stuffed with fillings like braised pork, peanut powder and fermented greens (the Classic) or crumbed daikon radish, hot sauce and coriander (the Daikon), are winners. As for the dessert, a fried Horlicks ice cream bao. Enough said. See you in the line.   You can’t really go past an RBMA night. Tonight, they’re bringing a taste of Brooklyn’s finest, Wolf + Lamb, to the decks of Dalston. Playing with Belgian producer San Soda, expect the friendlier side of house rather than the usual underground house cannons. Get in the mood here.

EAT:
Foxlow
  SEE:
Wild Tales

Foxlow have officially opened in Stoke Newington. Swap your usual steak, ribs and roast for some new additions – we like the sound of the hake with romesco and ricotta dumplings with spring vegetables. Like the Clerkenwell branch, bottomless Bloody Marys and Aperol spritz slushies are de rigeur and a sundae for dessert is a must.   End the weekend as you started it, with another film. Settle in for a black comedy like no other. Co-produced by Pedro Almodóvar, the Spanish film comprises six episodes linked by the common themes of comedic misfortune and revenge, from jealous brides and corrupt millionaires to road rage showdowns. Plus, expect to see echoes of one Almodóvar’s past films. We won’t say which one.
