FRIDAY

EAT:
Craft
  DRINK:
Street Feast

We’re fans of Stevie Parle (Dock Kitchen, Rotorino) so we’re heading straight to Greenwich for his latest venture, Craft, which spreads its wings over three floors. Spend the day here: there’s a café, rooftop cocktail bar and a shop. Alongside all that there’s a meat curing room and a fermenting cellar and… bee keeping? Cuisine is souped-up British.   This bank holiday pick from either Feasts: Model Market or Dalston Yard. The first one has tequila slushies, a Lewisham High Line, a vintage only soundtrack and festival-sized cocktails. Dalston side, expect a Tequila Treehouse, The Gin Store and over 20 street vendors. Decisions, decisions…

SATURDAY

EAT:
Fu Manchu
  Drink:
Hackney Drinks Market

The Asian movement continues and this weekend we’re heading to late night dim sum and cocktail bar, Fu Manchu. Occupying an old railway arch, the menu will include a range of steamed dumplings, while the drinks focus on cocktails made from Chinese tea infusions. As for the late night part - expect live sets until 3am.   And finally, London’s first drinks market has hit the capital. Just like food markets, expect stalls and vendors showcasing the best local drink producers, from the usual craft beers, coffee and soft drinks to the less usual meads, kegged cocktails and juices. For sustenance in between, tuck into booze food from around the world: think US bbq dishes, French charcuterie and cheese, or home grown battered fish and pork rolls.

SUNDAY

EAT:
Streets of Spain
  PARTY:
Land of Kings

More food. Head to south of the river for some Spanish grazing thanks to the annual Streets of Spain takeover by Campo Viejo. The concept: La Boquería on the South Bank. Fill up on sangria, take in the street art, listen to a bit of flamenco guitar and get stuck into the food. And you can expect all the usual suspects from the original Boquería, from El Quim de la Boquería and Can Vila Boquería Ibérica to Churros Garcia. Jamon jamon!   Dalston’s home-brewed festival of music and arts kicks off today. The now annual Land of Kings Festival is set to take over Dalston’s party lairs, with 15 venues, 16 hours and 1 wristband, from showcase and basement gigs to warehouse raves and rooftop parties. Flit between artists such as Trap trailblazer Lex Luger, pop siren Chloe Back and Berlin disco king Hugo Capablanca (to name a few). Don’t forget to catch Grime Karaoke at Birthdays, inviting wannabe wordy rappers to step up. Go on…

Taberna de Mercado

Nuno Mendes has opened another restaurant and it’s a far cry from his Chiltern Firehouse digs. The modest, 35-cover, walk-in restaurant in Spitalfields is opening for its soft launch today. Food wise, expect Portuguese flavours. Start with some tinned fish and end with a steak sandwich.

Taberna do Mercado opens for its soft launch by reservation only from May 4-9 . From May 11, the restaurant will be walk-ins only. To book, email info@tabernamercado.co.uk.
