Bombay Sapphire®

‘The Gin Journeys, An Exotic Journey to the Ends of the Earth’ at Sanderson- NOW OPEN

Sponsored listing

In the last four weeks, we’ve paid homage to the Mediterranean and West Africa with the Ultimate Gin & Tonic twists – the former with hints of fig and almond, heightened by a coffee atomiser, and the latter with a Moroccan blend of sweet, dry pineapple shrub and spiced cinnamon syrup. This time, we’re heading towards Bombay Sapphire®’s last leg of the journey – Asia. Transport yourself to a tropical oasis with bright citrus notes of kaffir lime and lemongrass, elevated by a Szechuan pepper atomiser. Only two weeks remain for this exclusive pop up, so note it in your diary if you haven’t already.

The Gin Journeys at Sanderson is open daily from 6PM until late. Entrance is free, and Ultimate Gin & Tonic twists and pairing menus are independently priced. To book a complimentary masterclass, held every Tuesday & Wednesday, email ginjourneys@bombaysapphire.com. Live music nights are held every Wednesday night as part of the Sanderson Sessions.

FRIDAY

EAT:
Canto Corvino
  PARTY:
Clock Strikes 13

Spitalfields is fast becoming our go-to for interesting breakfasts (Taberna do Mercado, José Pizarro, Blixen, Ottolenghi…). Now, joining the ranks is modern Italian Canto Corvino. Although open all day, including dinner, we’re starting our day there for its cornflake French toast served with burnt plums, hot smoked salmon bagels with burrata and beetroot and, interestingly, savoury avocado and chilli-flavoured stracciatella in a piadina (flatbread). Bon apps.   The underground party series, Clock Strikes 13, kicks off this weekend. By the guys behind The Hydra, CS13 will run across three months of consecutive Friday and Saturday nights from from October to December. And – tickets are still available for tonight’s inaugural gig at The Laundry with hip hop and soul boys Golden Rules, and up 'n' comer hip hop wunderkind Michael Christmas. Book now!

SATURDAY

EAT:
Rudie’s
  DRINK:
Dry Martini

Jamaican cuisine in London may be nothing new, but new restaurant Rudie's has a modern twist. Alongside their 24 hour marinated ‘real jerk’ chicken and range of fresh seafood (scallops, lobsters, fish) stands their version of dishes such as bruschetta (served with tomatoes and salted cod), cheeseburgers (using chopped jerk steak patties) and dumplings (with goat curry). There’s also an extensive rum-infused drinks menu – with all the obligatory puns – Cool Runnings, Jamaica Nice, Dr No…   Now, for a post-dinner drink at Dry Martini. The iconic Barcelona bar, one of the World's 50 Best Bars, has opened a London outpost. This is a cocktail bar for real aficionados, with a choice of 80 gins and a three-metre section of the bar dedicated to creating the single cocktail. Or, stray from the classic and make your way through the ‘Eccentric' section of the menu, starting with The Carnivore, served in a frozen flower on a bed of moss and dry ice.

DO:
Art Licks Weekend
  eAT:
Mama Lan

For an eclectic mix of art by some of London’s best emerging artists, galleries and projects, check out this year’s Art Licks Weekend. Held across South and East London in established galleries as well as hair salons, homes and tube stations across the city, there’s everything from free events and exhibitions to talks and tours, and even a Tokyo Drift rollin’ installation.   Finish the weekend with a hot bowl of noodles and homemade dumplings at Mama Lan in Dalston. As with its Brixton and Clapham counterparts, the recipes don’t stray far from the originals used back in the day on ‘Mama Lans’ grandfather’s Beijing dumpling and snack stall. This means handmade dumplings, a small range of noodle dishes, simple snacks and an extensive tea menu.
