EAT:
Oklava
  DRINK:
Hot Booze

We’ve been fans of Selin Kiazim since her days at Kopapa, so we can’t wait to try her first stand-alone restaurant, Oklava. The menu is her take on Turkish-Cypriot cuisine – lemon sole with charred shallots, parsley and pomegranate dressing, Çemen glazed lamb cutlets and, ticking the trend box, Turkish fried chicken (spiced with chilli and garlic with a za’atar crumb’).   A pop up bar dedicated to hot booze… sold! The pop up, Hot Booze, will be selling all their favourite winter warmers: hot cream eggnog, hot peanut butter rum, and chocolate salty booze in what they promise will be a kitsch-tastic environment. Want more? Check their Chrimbo calendar. Tonight it’s an 80s Christmas party - with all the classic tunes.

SATURDAY

EAT:
Billy and the Chicks
  PARTY:
DRAKE OFF

We’ve done American fried chicken every which way, and now it’s time for London to represent. Enter Billy and the Chicks, the brainchild of ex-St. John and Salt Yard chef Billy Stock, who, inspired by the South London fried chicken shops of his childhood, has done his own version. Yes, it includes all the wing deals, chicken burgers, and ribs but his version means ethically sourced chicks, twists on classics (three cheese mac ‘n’ cheese, jamon iberico stock beans, stinger burgers) and booze.   Don the gold grillz for The Great British Drake Off at Brixton Jam. The hint is in the name, but expect DJs to mash up their sets with Drizzy tunes all night long, Drizzy masks and really, whatever else they think of. Tickets are on final release (£10), so bounce!

DO:
Sleeping Beauty at Sadler’s Well’s
  WATCH:
A Very Murray Christmas

Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty is back at Sadler’s Wells. The gothic ballet that sold out before its first performance in 2012 has made a comeback for an eight-week Christmas season. Combining powerful dance with stunning visuals to the music of Tchaikovsky, tickets are still available, but be quick.   It’s here! Sofia Coppola’s Netflix exclusive Christmas movie, starring Bill Murray. It’s a typical “Christ-mess” plot where a blizzard stands in the way of guests (George Clooney, Miley Cyrus, Jason Schwartzman, and Chris Rock, to name a few) attending Murray’s live cabaret Christmas Eve show. And yes, before you ask, there will be Xmas tunes from the star-studded cast including Miley Cyrus and George Clooney. iTunes at the ready.
