For a dose of great theatre combined with great dance, book tickets to Jekyll & Hyde at The Old Vic, the new dance thriller devised, directed and choreographed by Olivier Award winner Drew McOnie and inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. One of the UK’s most innovative theatre choreographers, Drew McOnie reimagines Robert Louis Stevenson’s sinister drama in a physical new dance production with music by Grant Olding.

EAT:DRINK:
NT’s Summer TerraceTalli Joe

It’s back! One of our favourite east London watering (and cheese toastie) holes is about to get better with the opening of its Sunset Terrace. Decked out with booths and tropical greenery, there’ll be a DJ on decks to soundtrack the night as you sip on piña coladas and flavoured margaritas. Food wise, it’s all about the barbeque. We’ve had izakayas done all ways, Oriental diners, and now, it’s time for an Indian dive bar.
Helmed by former Michelin-starred Benares chef Sameer Taneja, expect Indian half plates such as rasam poached shrimp and bone marrow nihari (a slow cooked stew) – washed down with Indian riffs on classic cocktails – our eyes are on the turmeric infused south Indian gimlet.

DO:PARTY:
Dalston Roof ParkMasquerave

Another rooftop. Dalston Roof Park reopens this weekend after a winter’s landscaping and we hear it’s the greenest incarnation yet with hanging baskets, hops, grasses, climbers and creepers covering the whole space. Plus, there’s a new lighting system in play taking you from ambient sunsets to disco glows. As for food, drinks and entertainment? It’s all taken care of via a new bar, food vendors (Root & Bone) and a DJ spinning from 3pm until 12am. Seth Troxler, Jamie XX and Jillionaire are just some of the DJs coming together for the black tie fundraising masquerave party in east London. Hosted by cancer charity (and Samuel L Jackson?) One for the Boys, all proceeds go towards the fight against male cancer. So don your mask, dig out the black tie, and dance… all in the name of charity.

UJ LOVES

Pizza Bianca with black truffles

On an unassuming rainy Monday night we slid into Chucs on Westbourne Grove for a late night snack; we ordered the pizza bianca with black truffle and haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. So thin, so crisp, not too creamy or too rich. And we aren’t even usually white pizza fans. If you like pizza, get yourself to Chucs with haste!

WATCH:PARTY:
Miles AheadJacques

We love a movie with a booming musical score (Whiplash, Biggie & Tupac) so our eyes and ears are tuned for Miles Ahead. Set in the 70s, the story follows down-and- out jazz trumpeter Miles Davis (Don Cheadle) as he tries to recover his session tape from music producers. As for what to do after the movie? Dinner at Osteria seems like a no-brainer. If you have yet to check out the new incarnation of George and Dragon, here’s the perfect excuse. DJ, producer and UJ fave Andrew Armstrong (Monarchy) and Thomas Peltan (Ubermax) will be on decks for a night of French touch, disco, house and pop oddities. Get set to dance.

MONDAY PICK

Al Fresco at Barrafina Drury lane

Recover from the weekend’s carnage with glass of Spanish wine or sherry (or both) and the best tapas this side of Barcelona at Barrafina Drury Lane. Normally, we’re faithful to Frith Street, but with news of their new terrace—try to hold us back. The no-reservations, first come, first served policy means get there for opening to guarantee yourself an outdoor table.
