DRINK:PARTY:
UnfilteredDaniel Avery at Village Underground

Magnums, motorcycles and vinyls… just your usual Friday night. Helmed by sommelier and wine consultant Emily Harman (Moro, Morito, Angela Hartnett…), the four-day pop up, held in a disused motorcycle garage off Brick Lane, will feature a daily changing list of organic and biodynamic wines served from magnums, while records will blast courtesy of Brilliant Corners as well Rory McCoy (owner of Raw Duck and Duck Soup). Come one, come all! From residencies at Fabric and a monthly radio program on Rinse FM to gigs in all the major super clubs around the world, techno wunderkind DJ Daniel Avery has come a long way. And now, he’s set to add another notch on his belt with a solo set at Village Underground. Expect to sweat to eight hours of non-stop Avery magic.

DEDICATED BARS

Gone are the days of bars with ‘menus’. These days, it’s all about specialist bars. If it’s spritzes you’re after, head to Bird of Smithfield’s dedicated Aperol Spritz rooftop bar (open all summer). In Hoxton, Belvedere has just launched its five-day Belvedere Balance Bar at The Hoxton Hotel, serving six variations of the Spritz. London’s drink du jour, the negroni, is also getting itself two dedicated bars. For a choice of over 30 twists on the classic, head to the world’s largest Negroni Bar at Red Gallery in Shoreditch, or, for a simpler ‘negroni done five ways’ experience, hit up the dedicated bar at the soon-to- open House of Peroni. Old Fashioned fans will want to make tracks to Sager + Wilde’s Lounge Bar (opening tomorrow) for a five-strong menu of the cocktail. Bottoms up!

EAT:SEE:
Coya Sunday brunchClerks at Hackney Picturehouse

Want to keep the weekend going? Do so at Coya’s new Sunday brunch. There’ll be DJs, live performances, interactive food stations, including a guacamole counter and live chef station, and, of course unlimited Champagne, Peruvian punch and Bloody Marys. Brunch dishes such as Chilean sea bass with rice and lobster with chimichurri will be served family style. Before iPhone videos, Snapchat and Instagram, there were hand held cameras. Remind yourself of the simpler time with Kevin Smith’s cult film, Clerks. Don your tartan shirt and settle into the ‘attic’, the informal +18 space where are you are free to move around, visit the bar and enjoy drinks during the film – like at a friend’s house; their showing of the DIY black and white film at Hackney Picturehouse is only a fiver. This is the ultimate 90s throwback. Slackers unite.
