BOMBAY SAPPHIRE PRESENTS THE

‘ARTISTRY OF THE ULTIMATE GIN & TONIC’
GATEWAY TO BOMBAY AT CHILTERN FIREHOUSE

BY DEAN SHURRY

As you know the classic gin & tonic has evolved. And it’s all down to Bombay Sapphire. This season, they’re showcasing the ‘Artistry of the Ultimate Gin & Tonic’, by teaming up with six of the UK’s best bartenders from some of the most acclaimed bars. This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Dean Shurry’s (head bartender of Chiltern Firehouse) take on the G&T: ‘Gateway to Bombay’. Inspired by the dryness and bitterness of a traditional gin & tonic, Dean’s creation has a classic core, with added layers of flavor via manzanilla fermentation. The drink is served with Bombay air, lime ‘flicks’ and jasmine blossom- theatre in a glass! Head to UJ fave Chiltern Firehouse to try it.

Chiltern Firehouse, 1 Chiltern Street, London W1U 7PA

The ‘Gateway to Bombay’ cocktail will be available at Chiltern Firehouse until 11th January 2017. Watch this space for further information on ‘Artistry of the Ultimate Gin and Tonic’ serves available in individual partner mixology artists’ bars across London

DO:DRINK:
Sculpture in the CityMondrian Summer Terrace

City workers, make the most of your lunch break with a hit of outdoor art, thanks to Sculpture in the City. In its sixth year, you’ll find critically acclaimed sculptures dotted around the Square Mile: seventeen artworks in 20 locations, to be precise. Expect to spot a mix of works, from monoliths to more subtle pieces, strewn between the city’s landmark architecture. We love Gavin Turk’s surreal gateway ‘Ajar’. Now for some lobster and champagne, Hamptons style. Head to Sea Containers at Mondrian’s newly opened summer terrace, decked out with festoon lighting, white picket fencing, a wooden decked seating area and retractable sunshades, for some London-by-the-sea vibes. Add the lobster shack serving Perrier-Jouët Champagne paired with a number of Hamptons classics such as lobster rolls, ceviche tacos and oysters and, well, try to keep us away.

EAT:Party:
Champagne & Sushi Brunch at Yashin Ocean HouseTrangallan Pulpo Party

We’ve got yet another reason to love one of our favourite sushi spots in the capital, Yashin Ocean House. Aside from the fresh sushi, inventive menu (segmented by tail to neck) they’ve now launched a bottomless boozy brunch – endless top ups of champagne and an unlimited sushi buffet, including Yashin signatures– sold! Because there ain’t nothing like a pulpo party, we’re capping the weekend off at Trangallan, for some dancing, feasting and drinking. In honour of the Galician tradition centred around Pulpeira (the name given to the woman who sells octopus on the streets), where the custom is to visit the Pulpeira, who will cut you a fresh portion of octopus. You then have the choice to dine at home and return your plate later, or dine on the streets. This is street food with a tentacle twist.
