Island Life

It seems that it is cool to care.

We've all known for years that we should probably be more eco-friendly, but the idea of ethical living has been frankly dull. After all who wants to eat mung-bean salads and wear horrible sandals?

However, we are now prepared to eat organic/local/reared and wear ethically manufactured clobber. Surfing this zeitgeist is a new project by two British entrepreneurs to create a sustainable eco-community on an island in Fiji. Tribewanted is looking for 5000 international participants to make up a tribe that will exist on-line and will make tribal decisions by voting through the online community at tribewanted.com.

100 members a time can also settle on Vorovoro, which has been renamed 'Adventure Island', but the length of your stay depends on your membership. Nomads get 1 year's membership and 7 nights on the island for £120; Hunters are members for 2 years and can stay for 14 nights for £240; and Warriors are member for 3 years and pay £360 to stay for 21 nights.

Marvellous as it may be, technology has yet to become truly holiday friendly. Sure iPads can tell you the state of the stock markets, but they certainly can’t keep themselves afloat. So for your perfect vacation companion, head down to your newsagents tomorrow and invest in a copy of the inaugural MONOCLE newspaper.

Is it a terrible idea to talk about sex on a first date? How far should a dating agency go to make our romantic dreams come true? And just how long should you wait before you give in and text? Urban Junkies’ token singleton embarks on a quest to test the capital’s top dating agencies and find ‘the one’. Or a ‘one’. Or anyone. Hey, times are tough. But then so is our girl.
