A New Kind of Pearl

Pearls; not recently been very high on our radar (bar the Chanel and Tiffany's strands, of course).

But when word came in about the exclusive Dover Street Market pearl collaboration between Comme de Garçons and Chrome Hearts (of goth and Lou Reed fame), pearls suddenly felt very right.

And it's not only Comme and CH that are reaching for pearls.

Yohji Yamamoto's "Stormy Weather" collection for Mikimoto is dark and moody, and Solange Azagury Partridge's "Ball (meaning pearl, of course) Crusher Ring" is another, erhm, intimidating beauty. At around £3,000, it's an investment, but nothing near the £15,000 for Tiffany Aria necklace, and a steal compated to the £400,000 that Marie Antoinette's pearl necklace is set to fetch at the Christie's auction on December 12th.

Pearls, get some in.

Living life in lite – or existence.com, the beta version – takes small bits of the good stuff before deciding on the full whack. Like buying the Gucci key-ring instead of the bag. Before you plump for Life 2.0, dip your toe in and install the tester for a tiered existence.

There's nothing like the promise of a sunshine-filled beach break to get the credit card receipts flowing.
