Who Doesn't Love a Tart?

No, I'll admit it. I've been to Fabric. But live and learn, and all that. There were a couple of arty nights there last year which were above par, but it's hardly like it's a UJ regular. And yet, the restaurant/bar, Tart (an ironic name, given the locale), might be just the thing to draw us back to the Charterhouse no-man's land.

An intimate, mix of blood-red Chesterfields and lunch-friendly dining tables, its front window looks like a giant fish tank decorated with passing Fabric-bound hussies. But the real incentive is that it's closed on Saturdays.

An incentive you say?

Yes. Because that's when it's for private hire, with a 4am license, for free. They just need a reasonable minimum bar spend and a bit of warning. It's a bit like having your own members' bar for the night.

Though it does seem a tad callous and immoral, doesn't it: to sit in comfort, relishing the pleasures of one Tart whilst ridiculing others as they stumble by? But then, what's the point growing up if you can't laugh at the tasteless travesties of youth once in a while?
