On Top of the World

Last Summer was all about Shoreditch House. That roof, with its spectacular views of the growing Cityscape; the LA flamingo-pinks and chlorine-blues; the amusingly untrusting plastic martini glasses. On the hottest Sundays, the poolside was a veritable carpet of basking flesh and jugs of Pimm's.

Unsurprisingly, these last few evenings have already been flecked with eager groups clustering on the 6th floor, wine glasses in hand, trying hard to ignore the London chill. And all because there really is nothing quite like this around. Or at least there wasn't.

With the neighbouring BBB looking to launch its terrace this Summer and The East Room well underway with its rooftop space, it seems that Nick Jones could be losing his East London monopoly. The NT's stunning new event space, The Deck, opens next month offering some of the finest views of the Thames, and if Dex could just iron out a few touches, their Jacuzzi-topped roof, with its views of the rolling Brixton dales could be in the running. While, battling for the North-West, the forthcoming Diner in Camden is working on a large terrace too.

So, whether it's Pimm's, fine wine or burger in the sun, we reckon that this Summer is All. About. The. Terrace.
