Urban Art

Indulge this occasionally Luddist old romantic and pack away your computer. That’s it, step away from your desk. Set aside your meetings, take a deep breath and go for a walk.

Everyday we traipse around this city, eyes down like cattle, and whilst it may be a form of perambulation suitable for Tracy Emin’s latest offering , as the London Festival of Architecture comes into its month-long existence, it’s high time to look up.
Cy Twombly
With walks, talks, and bike rides led by some of the UK’s finest exponents and fans of the architectural form, the LFA takes in artists’ homes, subterranean gems, and buildings encapsulating some of the most beautiful dreams and stories throughout London. And where better than the fabulously quirky Hairywood Tower, the Eley Kishimoto and 6a collaborative structure that first cropped up (sorry) in Old Street a few years ago, to start your meandering.

Of course if you’re a touch agoraphobic, or feel that all this gross three dimensionality is too much, then you could do worse than seek refuge in the Tate Modern, and the new retrospective of Cy Twombly’s distinctive paintings, drawings, and evocative sculptures.
