Franko B: Don’t Leave Me This Way

When an artist is famed for his blood-based performance art (yes, it’s his own blood), one should really expect the unexpected.

So when, sitting in a pitch black space within the ICA , sinister noise blaring from all sides, a set of strobes suddenly came on, blinding Franko B’s latest audience, we really shouldn’t have been shocked.

Yet the atmosphere within the room crackled as the artist appeared from nowhere, sitting motionless on a pedestal, naked and covered in tattoos. The lights blared. The intensity was electric. And then, with that same suddenness, the lights were cut, and somewhere in the confusion, he vanished. Talk about making an exit.

Missing: one large, tattooed man answering to the name ‘Franko’. Last seen wandering naked through the ICA.
