What's for Supper? Eating New York in 28 Days

This summer I did a house-swap with a New York food writer. Relocating from Clerkenwell to Queens, I arrived with a clear mission on my hands: To eat and drink my way through New York in 4 weeks.
I wanted to avoid pretentious gastrotemples and celebrity chef empires and find the smaller places around town. A noodle stall hidden in a Chinese mini-mall, a closet-sized bar with great bruschetta, pizza baked in a coal-fired oven, an artisanal sake and sea urchin hangout with no sign - these were the places I wanted to find.
With the current pound to dollar exchange rate on my side, I took a deep breath, threw calorie caution to the wind, and dove in. Here are the results of 28 days’ eating in New York:
