UJ’s London Guide

When you’re in need of some cultural direction, does your compass waver towards Wallpaper’s high end hideouts, or into the all-encompassing arms of Time Out? Like Goldilocks, it seems you’re either dealing with a bed that’s too small or a bowl of porridge that’s too hot. But where’s the guide that’s just right?

So we figured it was high time we poured our five years of collective London know-how into our own London Guide, filling it with things we think you actually want to know about. From useful info for newcomers to insider tips and helpful hints for adventurous locals, we’ve got you covered. We’ll show you where to lay your head, who does the best brunch, where to buy that perfect gift, what club night to hit, and all those little cultural hotspots you’ve never had time to check out before.

We’ve sifted out the rubbish and left you with our favourites, which we’ll keep updating with new launches, glossy photos from nights out, the latest UJ features, special reader offers, and events from our agenda.

Plus we’ve asked some VIP Londoners to let us in on their secrets, including Paul Smith, Jonathan Downey, Susie Bubble, and James McAvoy.

So check it out, get to know your city, and This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it what your favourite places are and why. It’s your London. We’re just showing you the way.

Marvellous as it may be, technology has yet to become truly holiday friendly. Sure iPads can tell you the state of the stock markets, but they certainly can’t keep themselves afloat. So for your perfect vacation companion, head down to your newsagents tomorrow and invest in a copy of the inaugural MONOCLE newspaper.

  • UJ Dates

Is it a terrible idea to talk about sex on a first date? How far should a dating agency go to make our romantic dreams come true? And just how long should you wait before you give in and text? Urban Junkies’ token singleton embarks on a quest to test the capital’s top dating agencies and find ‘the one’. Or a ‘one’. Or anyone. Hey, times are tough. But then so is our girl.
