Mount Up

With gorgeous red-brick buildings, wide pavements and blooming window boxes, Mount Street has long been an ambler’s heaven – antiques dealers and a 170-year-old butchers happily sitting alongside Scott’s posh fish resto and some of fashion’s biggest brands. And with the spanking new Lanvin and Marc by Marc Jacobs boutiques settling in on the scene, Mount Street’s covering all its bases.

If you’re in the mood to spend, head over to the original Marc Jacobs for must-have handbags, check out the latest S/S09 offerings at Lanvin, then finish with a whiz around Balenciaga before calling it a day at Mayfair’s largest remaining Victorian pub, The Audley, or taking in a bellini on Scott’s fabulous Oyster Terrace.

But you don’t need a fat wallet to enjoy quality time chez Mount. Rick Owen’s new store on South Audley Street is a must-see just for the monogrammed white M&Ms and his life-sized head on a platter alone. Spend wisely at the new Marc by Marc (highlighting the fabulous fashion sibling trend), which offers quirkier alternatives for those in the know. Then cap it off with a glass of wine at local favourite, Fino’s Wine Cellar, grab a two quid sandwich from sister site Serafino’s , and head back to reality.
