Property Spy

Urban Retreat

Considering the doom and gloom Londoners have to face these days on their way into work, Property Spy came across this exciting new project from Yoo Design that might offer the perfect place to go and hibernate for the winter – or perhaps even more permanently.

Yoo is the brainchild of property mogul John Hitchcox, and with the help of Jade Jagger and Phillippe Starck, they have created ‘The Lakes by Yoo’, bringing urban living to the countryside. 48 houses have been released, each uniquely designed by the team with starting prices from £775,000 for a four bed house, and at less than an hour’s train journey from London they could be the perfect rural escape.

The designers have gone further than most by not just providing luxury, but doing their part in helping protect the environment. Your onsite ecology manager is responsible for creating and maintaining wildlife and flora habitat, whilst your local shop is in fact an organic farmers’ market – not many developers in London can beat that.

And with a concierge and hotel-service housekeeping to ensure maximum relaxation along with the peace and quiet, this looks a lot like the perfect stepping stone for Londoners wishing to brave the countryside…
