ARTS & CULTURE

Should I stay? Or should I go (out)?

Like recalcitrant kidults, show me one real city-dweller who, when teased with the first hints of fine weather, can resist cracking open a six pack on a green patch with a handful of friends and an al-fresco picnic of M&S’s finest. Which is why London’s cultural world is working double-time to keep us happily engaged indoors.
To help ease you back into the room, how’s about an interior that feels just like the great outdoors? It might sound surprising, but the Natural History Museum is currently holding the world’s most exquisite live butterflies. And they’re simply incredible, and absolutely one for more than just the kids.
Even being indoors can be wonderful – especially if you’re putting yourself inside one of Le Corbusier’s spaces at the Barbican Gallery. Meanwhile, inspiring you to get out and do it for yourself on a super-low budget, Shifty is a must-see of winging-it film-making, or you can seek DIY inspiration from Glaswegian artist Luke Fowler’s cinematic collages.
Just ‘cause it’s inside doesn’t mean it has to be boring.
