Property Spy

A Grand Designer

With the property market falling to such a level that many vendors are simply not selling unless they absolutely need to, even fewer buyers are finding their ideal home at their ideal price. So it's unsurprising that a lot of people are choosing to stay put and make their current home into their perfect home, instead. Or even turning something that isn’t a home into something that is.

Now that all the pesky developers are in hibernation, builders are offering much better terms and a much improved service. Still, if you really want to make somewhere special it all comes down to the design.

Which is where the Property Spy's latest little tip comes in: namely, Jonathan Tuckey Design. Having just won the Grand Design Award for Best Extension 2009, it would seem that if you're thinking about renovating an existing building and want to turn it into something that really stands out, then this is the man to talk to.

His work has involved a variety of projects and his own house was featured in the BBC's “Grow Your Own Drugs” programme. And not only can he produce some unparalleled designs, but he will also manage even the most tea-break-loving builders to perfection.
