Yes We Can

So when it comes to culinary inspiration, who are you going to turn to: a four dress size dropping ex-model turned chef like Sophie Dahl and her new ironically-titled cookbook, Voluptuous Delights, or offbeat New Yorker TV-chef, Dante Fried Chicken?

About as far from Jamie as humanly imaginable, Dante’s guerrilla TV shows pair him off with contemporary music stars like Santogold, Dragons of Zynth (and that infamous show with the Christian, lesbian, punk-rap collective Yo Majesty – warning: not one for the office!) to cook up killer soulfood, play some cracking tunes, and generally have an absolute laugh.

Food should be fun and cooking should have soul. So even if you’re of a more British/literary leaning, why bother with a smoothie-blender like Sophie when you can have the gorgeous Rosie (of Rosie’s Deli Café in Brixton) excitedly knocking up everything from her Ultimate Sausage Sandwich to a Mascarpone Mojito Cheesecake all while hanging out with London club legends, Horse Meat Disco?

I mean, I hardly see the Dahl-ster’s offering bearing a praise-laden cover note from Basement Jaxx on the back…

Rosie Lovell’s new and truly wonderful cookbook, Spooning With Rosie, is released tomorrow, RRP £18.99

Dante Fried Chicken is cooking up free food (including his incredible Apricot Coconut Sesame Chicken/Tofu) for the first 250 folks who make it down to his night on Thursday at Cargo featuring NYC R&B legend, Joe Bataan.

Pomegranate molasses (known in Farsi as ‘rob-e anor’) can be found in many supermarkets as well is in Iranian and Middle Eastern food stores.
