Fly By Night

Remember those halcyon days of sneaking into a club – any club – listening to pop-chart tunes (always ending with a smattering of Bon Jovi or well-timed rendition of Buttercup), groping a member of the opposite sex and stumbling home, feeling that all-in-all it had been a legendary night?
Yes, well, that just doesn't cut it anymore, does it? No.
We moved to the big city and got spoilt on Boombox door-hag madness, with crazy eyelashes, even crazier attire and all manner of drag-tinged delights.
We revelled in messy Wet Yourself-esque affairs, and gorged ourselves on Horse Meat Disco. And then it all kind of splintered off, its inertia spluttering towards an unceremonious end.
But now Ponystep and all of its fash-pack fans has quietly crept back in with a regular Sunday night. Then Jodie Harsh tweeted that she’s planning three super-special revivals of Circus in Oct, Nov and Dec.
And now we’ve gotten wind of Your Mum's House , launching today. No, not your mother’s actual chintz-clad duplex (though we’re sure she’d serve a mean Shirley Temple), but a new night at Punk asking us to indulge in fun, freedom and filth with the likes of the House of Blue Eyes and Jamie D Winter of Trailer Trash.
Of course there’s still a small-town part of us that’s rather hoping they’ll bash out ‘Living on a Prayer’ at 3am.
