Bad Romance
Colette arrives in the UK.
In life, as in love, it’s always those hard-to-get things that become the objects of our desire. We love a bit of mystery. And it doesn’t hurt to be French either.
Until now you’d have to have popped on the Eurostar to get a look-in at super-stylish store Colette. But come Thursday, the woman behind the name (a kind of retail guru along the lines of Mrs. B at Browns or Carla Sozzani of 10 Corso Como), has teamed up with Nissan Cube to open a mini store featuring an eclectic range of Japanese inspired lifestyle products perfect for the holidays.
Whilst the shop will be open to everybody, it’s the events line-up we’re interested in; private fashion shows by Mary Katrantzou, ‘joyride’ evenings to customise cars, chaotic painting, screenings of Japanese films, and ‘an orchestra you cannot imagine’, made of cyber-rabbits. To get in you need to either apply online (via a highly entertaining process), or look out for Nissan Cubes scheduled to be hanging mysteriously around clubs and events, and ask the driver for a members card.
Sure it’s all been curated to market a car, but hell, they’re making it interesting. We want one. Immediately.
