NYFW - UJ Round Up

NY-LON

Apart from the initial set backs of snow-flight stress, we managed to get to NY, where we dove directly into all things fashion. Sure, we missed the Tommy Hilfiger menswear show (snow!) but still managed champagne at Balthazar and a cosy dinner with team Tommy and the Dazed girls. Post-dinner, we ducked into a soirée at the Tribeca Grand before heading onto BOW (UJ loves) and Le Baron, where we headed downstairs for the electro beats.

On Sunday, we attempted the Clinton Street Baking Co & Restaurant (three-hour wait! Kind of regret not trying Prune with its Bloody Mary bar instead) before a quick change at The Standard, High Line. Then onto Tommy Hilfiger womenswear. Show highlights included the guests (Brant Bros), the tech (a tunnel of instant tweets), and the setting (Park Avenue Armory). Of course, the collection was good, too: Ivy League meets Savile Row is right up our street. Post-show, we met with Jimmy the Great (a.k.a. stylist extraordinaire) at old faithful Blue Ribbon Sushi. We need one here!

On Tuesday, it was off to J. Crew, which flipped the classic catwalk on its head. Models were in the audience, while attendees cruised the catwalk. Great collection, great setting, and great to see Jenna Lyons milling about, too. We can't wait for them to open in London.

Other #MBNYFW things we noticed: this was one slick operation (and we spotted lots of black, of course). We liked the Daily Front Row mag, especially the one with Graydon's face as cover. Other hotspots include Super Linda and The Waldorf with team adidas, who unveiled #boost to their global base of ‘adi-fans’, with everyone from Olympian Blake to Rosario Dawson in attendance.

Post-launch, we checked out the adidas store on Broadway – amazing Stella collection here – a Knicks game, and the LES’ ECC. We instantly decided we like the NY version best (they have jazz).

What a week of fashion fun! Thanks to all who made our trip great. And to the restaurants we missed (Neta, Acme, 15 East, Northern Spy, Il Buco, Mission Chinese, and more) we’re coming for you – and soon!
