Yayoi Kusama was reveling in dots and spots decades before Damien Hirst hit the scene. Don’t believe us? Just take a wander through her dot–obsessed exhibition at the Tate, which covers her major work from the 50s to the present. The Madonna of the art world, she has constantly reinvented her style (often from the confines of a psychiatric institution). Get trippy with her new mirrored infinity room, surrounding yourself with reflected kaleidoscopic repetitions of light and colour. Oh and dots, lots of dots.
