Emma Gets Fit Again: Pygmalion Project

I've always wondered about those "together" girls. The superwomen of this world who seem not just have it all, but manage it all. You know, the ones with high-powered careers, fabulous social lives, but who also make it to the gym five days a week. Don't they like telly?

I've always known that with fitness - outsourcing is the only answer. I'm so lazy, I'd probably pee the bed instead of getting up, if it was anyway appropriate. So, ergo, a UJ Pygmalion-style project, where I would hand my body over to the professionals.

Meet Melissa Crosby and her team at Kinesis Studio, just off Portobello Road. Six weeks ago, Melissa took control of my physique, booking me into all the classes she offers at her studio.

We start with the easy stuff. Vibrogym is a device similar to Powerplates. Essentially you stand on a vibrating (stop giggling in the back) block and turn the machine on. That's it.

It's pretty much the lazy girl's best friend. You'd think that it could never be effective - too easy. But the next day, I was in proper pain.

If this is fitness, well, sign me up.

  • Emma Flexes

It's now been eight weeks since I handed my body over to Kinesis. The outsourcing project has been supremely successful, if I do say so myself.

  • Emma Does The Masseur

Confession: I don't like massages. Actually, I don't like strangers touching me. At all. The idea of paying strangers to touch me; paying a man to touch me especially - well, that just seems vile.

  • Emma Does Gyrotonics

I didn't know much about Gyrotonics before I started. Actually, I forgot all about the fact that I had the class until about 20 minutes before it was meant to start. Hence, a mad dash in a black cab - my chariot of choice - to the Kinesis Studios and a gasping entry through the doors.

  • Emma Does the Osteopath

When Melissa emailed me to confirm my latest appointment this week, I was a little confused when she told me I'd better wear "big pants". Surely, she knew, as a lingerie company owner all of my briefs are, well, brief.

  • Emma Gets Fit Again: Pygmalion Project - Pilates

After Vibrogym, I was a little worried about starting Pilates.  Why couldn't they just strap me up to the Vibrogym for like a month and I'll be sorted?
