Can’t get to the Italian Riviera for dinner? Chucs might have come up with the next best thing. The Med obsessives have opened an all-day dining restaurant inside Zaha Hadid’s Magazine extension in Kensington Gardens. As far as restaurant interiors go, Chucs Serpentine is seriously impressive: the Hadid-designed curves are offset by blue and green décor which is designed to make you feel like it’s a seamless extension of the outside environment (and it works). We’d recommend starting off with a cocktail and some nibbles in their laid-back lounge area (get a seat right by the window if you can) and then heading to your table when you’re ready.

And the food? if you know Chucs, you’ll know that they do classic Italian, and they do it very well. On our visit highlights were the beef carpaccio, and the cacio e pepe was one to rival Padella. There are some new additions too: like green harissa lamb rump, and pea and mint risotto with micro watercress. This is also the only branch with a takeaway menu – panini, pizzettes, homemade ice cream and tiramisu can all be eaten outside in the royal park. Prego!
