More info

Burma is one of the few countries where tea is eaten as well as drunk, so don’t sit down here without planning to order the namesake dish – lahpet thohk – tea leaf salad; a pile of sprouts, tomatoes, seeds, marinated tea leaves and pea shoots similar to bhel puri and just as more-ish as Mumbai’s street food snack. Or try the house-made tofu, braised aubergine or whole bream poached in banana leaf. Ginger, citrus, tofu and peanuts interplay throughout the menu, and the lime and ginger and banana and coconut ice creams are a great way to finish. We stopped by for dinner at Lahpet’s London Fields pop up last summer and left totally enamoured by owner Dan Anton’s attention to detail and flavours we’d never come across. Lahpet’s new permanent spot will be right at home in Shoreditch’s Bethnal Green Road.

Soft opening weekend running from Friday 6th April through to Sunday 8th April.
